NEW AND REVISED DESCRIPTION OF PICTURES.
IMAGE 1) Different routes taken by various empires and tribes during the invasions of Rome. Even though Rome was the strongest empire it came to its fall because of its roads. The Roman soldiers were incapable of defending all of the roads, hence the empire was taken over. The picture also shows that the Eastern Empire was being attacked and that is why they couldn't assist the Western Empire in defending itself.
IMAGE 2) This is the different levels of power in the middle ages compared to the the levels of power today. At the top was the king and the Pope because they had nearly equivalent power. Another thing that this picture demonstrates is that it is very hard to become a king. Only .00001 percent of the population had the title of Pope or King.
IMAGE 3) This picture is a demonstration of how the king protected the peasants in return for their loyalty and their money. The way this system worked was through trade. The serfs traded their money and loyalty in return for protection from invaders and robbers. The peasants would act as soldiers during times of war. All in all the feudal system provided for everyone involved and made everyone feel safe.
IMAGE 4) This image shows how a medieval era village would be set up. In its center would be the castle which was heavily fortified. The houses were all build next to each other which eventually aided the spread of the plague. And on the outer edges of the towns were the farms and cultivated land. Also on the outer edges of town were the shops and mills because the emitted harmful gases or had dangerous equipment.
IMAGE 5 Medieval Knights often had to follow a code of conduct which usually was called the Code of Chivalry. Some of the main principles that knights had to follow were Valor, Courtesy, and Fair Play. The valor portion of the code states that a knight never back down in war and that he shall fight for his country. The courtesy portion of the code was that the knights had to help women and children and that they can't harm them.

IMAGE 6) This image depicts a horrible tragedy that occurred between 1346 - 1350 and killed and estimated 75 million to 200 million people. The iconic black boils on the victims body gave evidence that the person has contracted the disease. The disease was carried by rats. When a flea bit the rat it also contracted the disease and then when the flea bit a human the human would become gravely ill.
IMAGE 7) This image shows a timeline of when the Bubonic Plague reached certain areas. The red areas are the areas that had the highest amount of casualties. The orange areas show where the disease was moderately destructive to the human race. The yellow areas are where there was relatively low casualties.
IMAGE 8) This image depicts the one and only Joan of Arc. She left her legacy by recapturing France from England. She would ride to the castle in her notorious white armor and brush her banner against the walls. Then the French troops would magically win the war. Unfortunately, she died at an early age because she was convicted of witchery and was burned at the stake.
IMAGE 9) This image shows the routes that the Christian Crusaders took during the crusades. At first the Christian's were successful in the capture of Jerusalem but they were eventually driven out by the Muslims. In all of the other Crusades the Christians suffered devastating losses.
IMAGE 10) This image shows a picture of famous Magna Carta. The Magna Carta was written to prevent the king from becoming too powerful. It mainly prevented the king from raising taxes without permission from nobles. This was an early system of checks and balances. This type of system would later be used in the Constitution.
IMAGE 11) This timeline shows that the Middle Ages were a terrible time period. There were tons of wars and battles. And on top of that there was the Black Death going around which killed millions of people.
IMAGE 12) No clue still.
IMAGE 13) This is an image of the Great and Powerful Charlemagne. Charlemagne was King of the Franks and he eventually became the Emperor of Rome. He got the crowned emperor on Christmas Day. In addition he led many expeditions to expand his empire.
IMAGE 14) This tapestry tells us that the Middle Ages were also the Age of Exploration. During this time period many explorers such a Christopher Columbus set sail to discover new lands. There was also many expeditions that took place over land. So in conclusion one benefit from the Middle Ages is that the continent of North America was discovered.
IMAGE 15) One form of medieval entertainment was jousting. Jousting is where two men dressed in armor ride along at high speeds on horses and try to knock each other off their horses with long poles. The closest type of entertainment in Rome that resembled this was at the Circus Maximus. At the Circus Maximus horses were raced to see who's horse was the fastest.
IMAGE 16) This is an image of the Hundred Years War. This war took place between France and England. The struggle for power was increasing and as a result France was invaded by England. In response to this France sent out troops to defend the country but failed. Soon came Joan of Arc who claimed to have been sent by God to lead the French Army. Joan of Arc won all of the battles that she fought in except the last one where she was burned at the stake after being convicted of witchcraft.
IMAGE 17) This is probably the most remembered thing from the Middle Ages. This iconic image is of a castle. The drawbridge and moat is one of the castle's main defenses because it prevents invaders from being able to enter the fortress. In addition to that there was the turrets that the archers would shoot out of. And last of all there was the walls which also helped to defend the castle by keeping invaders out.

One interesting fact about Charlemagne was that he made Latin the official spoken and written language of his empire. Another interesting fact about Charlemagne is that he was married four different times. One last unique fact about Charlemagne is that his favorite food is roast meat.
Charlemagne had a positive impact in that time period. He brought some sort of order to the land by conquering the surrounding empires. Another way Charlemagne created order was by using the Feudal System which made sure all of the peasants in his empire were fed and protected from foreigners and robbers. One last way Charlemagne brought order to the area was by becoming the Emperor of Rome. This gave him even more power and he had such a large army that people were afraid to resist him.
